2013 BN Chelynne copy for webThe Community Revitalization Academy (CRA) is a series of five two-day workshops designed to provide revitalization professionals with intermediate level instruction based on the Four-Point Approach® of the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s Main Street Program and the Five-Point Approach of the Pennsylvania Elm Street Program.   The Pennsylvania Downtown Center (PDC) is the only statewide nonprofit organization solely dedicated to the revitalization of the commonwealth’s core communities.   The CRA’s are a vital element of the services provided to communities by PDC and are offered on an ongoing basis.

Courses are offered in the five following categories:  Organization, Design, Marketing, Asset Enhancement and Safe, Clean & Green.   The November 2013 academy focused on community marketing.  The community marketing course tackles issues around downtown promotions and other marketing considerations. Topics that are highlighted involve the promotion committee’s roles, understanding market data, website development, branding, special events, retail promotions, and media relations.

One attendee received a completion certificate at the November 2013 CRA.  The graduate is Chelynne Curci, Main Street Manager for Butler Downtown.  For more information about the Pennsylvania Downtown Center’s training menu visit www.padowntown.org.
