Economic Restructuring Committee PDF Print E-mail

The Economic Restructuring Committee is charged with strengthening the existing economic base of the business district while diversifying it.

The committee meets the last Wednesday of the month at 8:00 a.m. to discuss issues downtown businesses and potential businesses may encounter when located within the district.

  • Identify new market opportunities for the traditional commercial district.
  • Find new uses for historic commercial buildings.
  • Stimulate investment in property.

In order to understand the district’s economic condition and its best opportunities, the committee completed a door-to-door Business Owner’s survey. We developed this survey to help us get a “feel” for how the current business owners are doing, and also get their thoughts and input.

Our goals are to help strengthen existing businesses which will help build a much stronger economic foundation for the Main Street district, and help find & attract new uses for space once employed for other purposes.

It is our desire to work closely with the Mayor and City Council (local government), the Redevelopment Authority, and the Main Street Manager to create financial incentives and capital for building rehabilitation and also business development.
