Centre City Summer Jam -The answer to what to do on a Friday night!  Butler Downtown, the Butler Eagle, Butler Media Group, and local bands are teaming up to bring a FREE concert series downtown this summer.

This summer's first Summer Jam will run from 6:00pm to 10:30pm this Friday night, June 17th. The event will be located on the corner of E. Cunningham and S. Main Street. The first two bands of the series are Mr. Furley and Street Level.  In addition to live music and other activities there will also be a downtown marketplace with local food, beer, and merchandise vendors. Vendors for this Friday's event include When Pigs Fly I, Dr. Sous Chop Shop, Benjamin Beetle, the Butler County Tourism Bureau, and Butler Downtown.  There will also be a raffle with the chance to win cash and prizes.

Butler Downtown volunteer, Bob Dandoy said "I had many friends come up to me at the Summer Jam event in June saying these events reminded them of the old 'Neighborhood Nights' in the city back in the 1960s and 70s.  The Summer Jam is a nice evening to hear some local music and relax with friends."

The 2011 Centre City Summer Jam series is sponsored by the Butler Eagle, Butler Media Group, Butler County Tourism Bureau, Conlon Tarker, Days Inn Butler, CW Howard Insurance, Nextier Bank, and Iron City Brewing Company.

The next two Summer Jam events will take place on July 15th and August 19th. The featured bands in July are The Way Back Home Band and Moonshine.  Moon Drag and Full Circle will be playing in August.

Please contact Butler Downtown if you would like to be a vendor at the events in July and August. Vendor spaces are available to city businesses only. There is a $50 vendor fee for this event, and vendors must bring their own tents, tables, chairs, etc.

All are welcome to this free community event. Stop by and enjoy an evening of local music and Butler flavor!
