Often referred to as the "Troutman House," this historic 1890 house was actually built by Joseph Colestock, who owned it until 1928.  The house was sold to a second owner, and then sold to A.C. and Lillian Troutman.  A.C. Troutman died c. 1951 and Lillian lived in the home until the end of the 1960s, which is probably why the public still refers to the house as the "Troutman House."

In July 2008, the house was moved from its location on North Main Street to its current location on the corner of North McKean and East Brady Streets.  This 2-1/2 minute video, courtesy of ARMSTRONG, shows the house being moved in a fast-forward motion.  A wonderful example of historic preservation in Butler!
